Sell on eBay quickly and easily, a great side gig!

I have been an eBay seller since 2002 with over 850 feedback. What’s nice about eBay is I remained inactive for years and kept my account. I have always sold part time on the site. I once sold for family and friends in the past to earn positive feedback and extra money. To me, it’s better to sell on eBay than to sell locally or at a garage sale. It takes a little more work but not much more.

The key to selling an item quickly on eBay is having a hot item. I recently came across that by mistake. My wife buys elf on the shelf items for my son for Christmas. She makes elaborate setups starting after Thanksgiving and runs to Christmas day. She had me looking for an elf on the shelf ornament from Dunkin Donuts. She knows I frequent Dunkin randomly during the week and asked me to look for this ornament. She has a setup with the elf that includes getting donuts to eat.

I went to a local Dunkin near my house early one morning and located a few elf on the shelf ornaments. I luckily looked closely in which most were female elves. I was able to locate a male elf and immediately was excited. I purchased the elf for just under $10 dollars. It was early in the morning so I was not even sure if she had this ornament already.

Before I made the purchase, I checked the completed and sold listings under my eBay account. This can be done easily with an account. You search for the item you are researching, click on up righthand corner of the screen, click on completed and sold options. All options sold are in green. You can filter on the highest price, recently sold, etc. If I got the wrong ornament, it was a hot selling category, and I could probably sell it quickly before Christmas. So I made the purchase and went home.

I later found out she had that same ornament already. Rather than get upset and try returning it, I thought to list it quickly on eBay. I did it all using my phone within minutes. Keep in mind, I already have envelopes on hand from other items I have listed on eBay.

I went to My eBay under my application on my phone, and clicked on list an item. A Keyword or ISBN/UPC box comes up on my phone, I simply clicked, and scanned the barcode. Another elf listing came up for the same item and I selected it. I took two quick pictures on my kitchen counter top on my phone. I simply edited the listing to include my two pictures, chose a Buy It now option for under $20 with shipping, and selected list item. The item already had a standard shipping item defaulted for First Class Shipping under USPS that had been already weighed and measured.

To my surprise the elf ornament had been purchased within an hour of listing it. I didn’t even know it until I checked my emails that night. I doubled my money, minus the fees later, and the buyer paid for shipping.

Now researching elf on the shelf on eBay by clicking on completed and sold items, it is a hot seller! I will keep an eye out for more ornaments.
